The Canadian Intensive Care Foundation is a Canadian charity dedicated to raising funds through public donations to support research into intensive care.

Canadian intensive care units are often the first haven for the critically ill or injured and their families. Those affected by traumatic circumstances look to our ICU carers not only for reassurance, but for the expertise required to save lives. The CICF knows that generous public support can make a real difference to our ability to save more lives each and every day.

Improving through Education

Our charity is committed to increasing medical professionals' understanding of the needs of critical care patients and the treatments available for these patients. By providing some of the nation's leading intensive care researchers with grants, we ensure that tomorrow's most critically ill patients will enjoy better care and a greater chance of survival.

Canadian ICUs care for more than 100,000 patients each year; patients with severe, life threatening injuries and illness whose lives are in the hands of dedicated medical professionals. Here, knowledge and research can have a real and immediate impact on outcomes. When we contribute to research funding, we also contribute to the survival rate of our most desperate medical cases.

Your Generosity Matters

Canadian ICUs currently have an 80 percent survival rate - that means that four out of five of the men, women and children that need intensive care move on to recover in other areas of the hospital.

The CICF is a registered Canadian charity that receives all grant funds and operating capital mainly through public donations. We receive no federal government support and our operating budget is kept low in order to ensure that we can provide more grants for research and education efforts.

CICF grant support has contributed to the positive outcomes for these patients by providing funds for medical professionals to increase their knowledge about necessary care. These grants were made possible by your generous support.
